Job Summary

The Programmes Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-impact programmes and thematic portfolios. The role involves overseeing multi-country initiatives, managing partnerships, and ensuring the production of high-quality research and knowledge products to support the Centre’s strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Programmer Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of assigned programmes and thematic initiatives.
  • Prepare annual work plans, budgets, and progress reports in alignment with the Centre’s strategic goals.
  • Ensure programmes deliver results on time, within scope, and according to quality standards.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, intergovernmental institutions, DFIs, think tanks, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Centre in multi-stakeholder forums, conferences, and policy dialogues.
  • Facilitate collaboration across internal and external teams to strengthen programme delivery.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise consultants, technical experts, and project officers to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Mentor team members and support professional development within the programme portfolio.
  • Ensure accountability and performance tracking across all programme activities.

Knowledge Management & Reporting

  • Produce research papers, policy briefs, knowledge products, and technical reports.
  • Organize conferences, fellowships, and research collaborations to advance programme objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Centre’s governance, ethics, and reporting standards.

Strategic Impact & Compliance

  • Manage complex programme activities under tight timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Contribute to the Centre’s thought leadership and influence policy discussions across the region.
  • Promote gender equality, inclusion, and collaborative governance across all initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Governance, Political Science, Law, Economics, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ relevant experience in programme design, implementation, or policy coordination.
  • Strong understanding of Africa’s political, economic, and governance landscape.
  • Proven experience managing multi-country initiatives and engaging senior-level stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of French, Arabic, or Portuguese is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and collaborative governance principles.
