Position Summary
The Regulatory & Compliance Officer will oversee regulatory affairs, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and support operational excellence across the organization. The role requires strong regulatory knowledge, stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Liaison
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with FDA, GRA, Customs Division, GSA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies
- Serve as the primary contact for inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries
- Coordinate responses to regulatory observations and compliance requirements
Compliance Management
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and advise management on potential operational impact
- Ensure all licenses, permits, certifications, and product registrations remain current and compliant
- Maintain adherence to industry and statutory standards across operations
Documentation & Filings
- Prepare, submit, and track regulatory filings, import/export permits, tax exemptions, and compliance reports
- Manage product registrations and ensure accurate documentation for regulatory approvals
- Maintain organized compliance records and regulatory documentation systems
Customs & Trade Compliance
- Oversee HS code classifications, customs valuation, and duty exemption processes
- Ensure efficient customs clearance for raw materials and finished products
- Monitor import/export compliance and trade documentation requirements
Internal Audits & Risk Management
- Conduct routine compliance audits across production, QA/QC, warehouse, and finance departments
- Ensure compliance with FDA cGMP requirements, GRA tax obligations, and customs regulations
- Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Investigate incidents of non-compliance and recommend risk mitigation measures
Training & Reporting
- Train employees on regulatory requirements, SOPs, and ethical compliance practices
- Prepare monthly compliance reports and dashboards for senior management
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to regulatory and operational compliance
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Pharmacy, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional certification in Compliance or Regulatory Affairs is an advantage
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a regulatory or compliance role within manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage industries
- Direct experience working with FDA, GRA, Customs Division, and related regulatory institutions is required
- Strong understanding of Ghana’s regulatory framework, including:
- FDA guidelines
- GRA tax and customs procedures
- Import/export regulations
- Ghana Standards Authority requirements
