The Opportunity

PayAngel is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager – Compliance & Financial Crime (AMLRO, Ghana) to lead our Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and broader financial crime compliance programme.

The successful candidate will serve as the designated Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (AMLRO) for PAYINC GHANA LTD and will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust compliance framework that protects the organization’s integrity, reputation, and regulatory standing.

You will ensure that PayAngel’s compliance practices align with Ghana’s regulatory requirements, including the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044), the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2008 (Act 762), the Payment Systems and Services Act, 2019 (Act 987), and applicable AML/CFT directives and guidelines issued by the Bank of Ghana and the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Manager – Compliance & Financial Crime (AMLRO), you will:

AML/CFT Governance and Compliance Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain PayAngel’s AML/CFT and financial crime compliance framework.
  • Establish effective policies, procedures, controls, and governance structures to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary AMLRO contact for regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Ghanaian financial crime laws, regulations, and regulatory directives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to management on AML/CFT risks and compliance obligations.

Financial Crime Risk Management

  • Conduct regular financial crime risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor emerging financial crime risks within the fintech and payments environment.
  • Strengthen controls relating to customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Review and improve compliance processes to support effective risk identification and prevention.

Regulatory Reporting and Engagement

  • Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory reports and required compliance documentation.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, including the Bank of Ghana and the Financial Intelligence Centre.
  • Coordinate regulatory reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Ensure timely investigation and reporting of suspicious transactions in line with regulatory requirements.

Compliance Monitoring and Training

  • Develop and execute compliance monitoring programmes to assess control effectiveness.
  • Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver AML/CFT awareness and training programmes across the organisation.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Leadership and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with business, operations, technology, risk, and legal teams to embed compliance into business processes.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to compliance team members.
  • Prepare compliance reports, dashboards, and management updates for senior leadership.
  • Support strategic initiatives that strengthen governance and operational resilience.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in compliance, AML, financial crime, or risk management (such as CAMS, ICA, CFE, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in compliance, AML/CFT, financial crime prevention, risk management, banking, fintech, or payments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing compliance frameworks within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of Ghana’s AML/CFT regulatory landscape.
