Position Summary
The Senior Supervisor – Fleet & Logistics will oversee the company’s fleet operations and logistics activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to transportation and logistics teams while driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and service efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Management
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the company’s fleet, including trucks, buses, forklifts, and service vehicles.
- Ensure all vehicles remain operational, properly maintained, and available to support business requirements.
- Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and fleet operating costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date fleet documentation, including vehicle registrations, licenses, insurance records, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with road safety regulations, transportation standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize fleet reliability and performance.
Logistics & Transportation Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the transportation of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.
- Develop and implement transportation schedules that support efficient operations and timely deliveries.
- Collaborate with production, procurement, warehouse, and sales teams to align transportation activities with operational requirements.
- Monitor delivery performance and proactively address transportation challenges to minimize disruptions.
- Optimize transportation resources to improve service delivery and cost efficiency.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise drivers, logistics coordinators, transport assistants, and other logistics support personnel.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching, mentorship, and training to enhance productivity and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyze logistics performance indicators and fleet efficiency metrics.
- Identify opportunities to streamline transportation processes, improve productivity, and reduce operating costs.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and customer service.
- Prepare and present periodic reports on fleet utilization, transportation activities, logistics performance, and operational outcomes.
- Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and operational planning.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with transportation regulations, health and safety requirements, and company standards.
- Investigate transportation incidents, accidents, and operational challenges and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across fleet and logistics operations.
- Champion a strong safety culture and promote best practices throughout all transportation activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Logistics Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Transportation Management
- Business Administration
- Or a related discipline
- Professional certifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Fleet Management, Transportation Operations, or related fields will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fleet management, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Proven track record of managing fleet operations, transportation activities, and logistics performance.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance management, transport planning, and logistics coordination.
