Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Social Responsibility & Governance Superintendent to lead and strengthen the company’s social performance, community engagement, and governance initiatives.
The successful candidate will promote strong stakeholder relationships, ensure effective community development programs, and support a culture of safety, accountability, and responsible mining across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Risk & Social Performance
- Contribute actively to a zero-fatality, injury-free, and illness-free workplace culture across the mine.
- Conduct and oversee high-quality safety inspections, audits, and social risk & impact assessments.
- Identify social risks associated with mining and exploration activities and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and applicable social performance frameworks.
Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with local communities, traditional authorities, and relevant NGOs.
- Facilitate effective communication between the company and fence-line communities to support operational harmony.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities that promote transparency, mutual respect, and shared understanding.
- Represent the company in community meetings, consultations, and stakeholder forums.
Community Development & Social Programs
- Design, implement, and monitor community development initiatives aligned with company social investment goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver impactful social programs in education, health, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
- Ensure community programs are effectively executed, monitored, and evaluated for impact and sustainability.
Impact Management & Governance
- Proactively assess and manage the social impacts of mining and exploration activities on surrounding communities.
- Develop and implement action plans to mitigate negative impacts and enhance positive social outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with social governance standards, reporting requirements, and corporate social responsibility frameworks.
- Provide regular reporting on social performance, risks, and stakeholder engagement outcomes to management.
Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and guide social performance and community relations teams to ensure effective execution of responsibilities.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the function.
- Coordinate with operations, environment, safety, and security teams to align social performance with operational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Public Relations, Communications, Anthropology, Social Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in Community Relations, Community Development, Social Performance, Public Affairs, or Stakeholder Engagement.
- Proven experience in the mining sector is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
