Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Area Manager: Mining Services to oversee and optimize mining operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of services. The successful candidate will lead teams, manage customer relationships, and drive operational excellence across open-pit and underground mining environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day mining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.
• Lead drill and blast operations, mine planning, and equipment selection to optimize productivity.
• Assess blast performance and apply appropriate techniques and equipment for operational efficiency.
• Manage underground mining activities, ensuring safe practices in hazardous environments.
• Maintain strong customer relationships at all operational and management levels.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for mining teams.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, budgets, and performance targets.
• Monitor financial performance and apply strategic management principles to achieve business objectives.
• Represent AECI Mining to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, safety standards, and company policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Minimum University degree or equivalent in a technical field (preferably Mining Engineering).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in open-pit and/or underground mining at middle-management level.
• Professional Qualification: Statutory qualification as an explosives engineer or equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge of blast performance assessment, underground mining operations, and mine planning.
• In-depth understanding of mining equipment selection, performance, and operational planning.
• Familiarity with AECI products, production facilities, and market operations.
• Strong financial management and business acumen.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and mining-related engineering software.
• Proven problem-solving, leadership, and team management abilities.
• Member of a relevant professional body.
