Position Summary

The Breeder Farm Officer manages daily breeder farm operations to ensure optimal bird health, biosecurity, and productivity. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of hygiene, preparing facilities for incoming chicks, and supporting efficient farm management practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely disposal of poultry manure and maintain strict cleaning and disinfection protocols.
  • Inspect and confirm that all housing structures, including windows, are in proper working condition.
  • Prepare and ensure availability of starter feed and clean water before chick placement.
  • Install, monitor, and maintain all electrical systems, including brooders and lighting.
  • Flush and disinfect all water tanks, tankers, and distribution lines regularly.
  • Ensure adequate availability of feeders, drinkers, brooders, and thermometers prior to operations.
  • Prepare poultry houses with disinfected litter and ensure proper pre-warming before chick arrival.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date farm records and ensure all record-keeping materials are available.
  • Ensure weighing scales and other essential farm tools are available and functional.
  • Uphold biosecurity measures and contribute to overall farm efficiency and productivity.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in hatchery or breeder farm operations.
  • Fresh graduates with strong practical knowledge in breeding and hatchery operations are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal health and welfare.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
