Role Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor leads and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of mobile and fixed plant equipment. This role drives safe work practices, supervises maintenance teams, and ensures all work aligns with regulatory standards and operational goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Enforce compliance with Duty of Care Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, and Mining Inspection Act & Regulations.
  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate maintenance work in collaboration with other departments and relevant authorities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, develop tender specifications, and evaluate contractor bids to recommend best-value solutions.
  • Manage contractor performance, including adherence to contracts, warranties, and service level agreements.
  • Oversee maintenance of mobile equipment, ensuring proper management of critical components and change-out intervals.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team while fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance processes and procedures that integrate behavioral safety and operational excellence.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and communication of maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate of Competency as an Engineering Supervisor from the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission (IDMC).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in the mining maintenance field, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of mining maintenance operations and mobile equipment lifecycle management.
  • Sound understanding of contract maintenance, vendor management, and contractor warranties.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare estimates, tender documents, and evaluate technical proposals.
  • Experience managing diverse teams across cultural and operational contexts.
