Role Overview

The Trainee Quantity Surveyor supports cost planning, contract administration, and financial management of construction projects. This role provides practical exposure to quantity surveying processes, including measurement, valuation, budgeting, and project cost control under the supervision of senior professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets.
• Support the measurement and valuation of construction works on-site and from drawings.
• Assist in monitoring project costs and tracking variations during project execution.
• Participate in contract administration, including documentation and compliance support.
• Help evaluate subcontractor claims, payments, and progress reports.
• Support procurement processes by preparing cost comparisons and material assessments.
• Assist in preparing financial and project cost reports for management review.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure accurate cost control.
• Ensure proper documentation of all quantity surveying activities and records.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience

• 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in construction or quantity surveying roles.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good understanding of construction processes and cost management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic QS tools/software is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
