Role Summary
The Portfolio Manager designs, implements, and manages investment portfolios tailored to client needs and risk profiles. The role focuses on delivering consistent, risk-adjusted returns while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring alignment with investment mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Business Development Officers to design Investment Policy Statements (IPS) based on clients’ risk profiles and specific requirements.
- Construct and manage diversified portfolios with appropriate asset allocation aligned to client objectives.
- Manage portfolios in line with IPSs and Scheme Particulars to consistently outperform benchmarks in a sustainable manner.
- Develop and implement portfolio management strategies aimed at generating positive alpha.
- Monitor, review, and rebalance client portfolios to maintain optimal performance and risk alignment.
- Prepare and deliver portfolio performance reports to clients, Boards of Directors, and Trustees.
- Conduct periodic portfolio attribution analysis to evaluate performance drivers.
- Build, manage, and deepen relationships with clients and trustee institutions.
- Supervise and guide investment analysts where applicable.
- Maintain proactive and transparent communication with clients regarding portfolio performance and market developments.
- Contribute to the development of new investment products aligned with market trends.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or a related business field.
- Successful completion of CFA Level I or Level II from the CFA Institute.
- Certification from the Ghana Stock Exchange / Ghana Investment and Securities Institute Securities Courses is required.
- Partial or full professional qualification in ACCA, CIPM, or a related accounting/finance programme is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment analysis.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and investment instruments.
- Effective communication and client relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to make sound investment decisions under changing market conditions.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver consistent results.
