Job Summary

COGINTA, a non-political NGO, seeks a detail-oriented and results-driven Account Officer to manage financial operations and ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements. The successful candidate will support accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and effective financial controls within the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently.
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, donor regulations, and financial policies.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
  • Collaborate with program teams to ensure proper financial tracking of project activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Prior experience working within the NGO sector is required.

  • Apply sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Use accounting software and financial systems effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
