Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support underground mining project planning, evaluation, and execution activities to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical inputs required for underground mining infrastructure development and capital project execution.
- Contribute to business planning processes, including preparation of Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) and capital budget development.
- Collaborate closely with technical services and operational departments including mine planning, geology, ventilation, geotechnical, mining operations, and maintenance teams.
- Review and develop mine infrastructure drawings, project execution packages, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with mine planning standards, operational procedures, reporting requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement practical solutions to support timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Facilitate technical meetings, prepare project reports, and present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing project execution efficiency and operational performance.
Educational Qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
- Project Management certification or formal project management training will be advantageous.
- Professional Engineering registration with a recognized Ghanaian or international professional body, or equivalent professional certification in construction, will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in underground mining, including exposure to capital infrastructure projects, mine design execution, and project evaluation.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional inputs for underground mining project development and execution.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to business planning processes, AFEs, and capital budgeting cycles.
- Broad exposure to technical services and mining operations with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with planning documentation standards, compliance frameworks, and mining operational reporting processes.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in mine planning software including Deswik and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Previous experience using PumpSim and AutoCAD will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with attention to operational and execution detail.
- Ability to interpret and develop mine infrastructure drawings and project execution documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across departments.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and present technical information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project coordination capabilities within a fast-paced operational environment.
