Role Purpose
The Vice President, Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement – Ghana will lead the development and execution of strategic stakeholder engagement, government relations, and sustainability initiatives for the business unit. The successful candidate will provide high-level strategic guidance on socio-political, regulatory, and corporate affairs matters while strengthening relationships with government institutions, civil society, diplomatic missions, and external stakeholders to support sustainable business operations and long-term corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive stakeholder engagement and sustainability strategy aligned with the company’s corporate objectives and sustainability priorities.
- Provide strategic advice and expert guidance to senior leadership, including the Senior Vice President and General Managers, on government relations, regulatory developments, socio-political issues, and policy matters.
- Monitor and analyse the political, regulatory, and governance landscape to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends that may impact business operations.
- Serve as the principal liaison between the company and government authorities, maintaining strong and transparent relationships with key stakeholders including Cabinet Ministers, parliamentary representatives, and officials from the Office of the President.
- Represent the company at government forums, investment conferences, civic engagements, and cultural events while effectively communicating the company’s sustainability commitments and business objectives.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with diplomatic missions, embassies, multilateral institutions, and international stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation and regional presence.
- Lead the management of complex stakeholder issues including community mining dynamics, socio-economic developments, political transitions, and organized external risks that may affect operational stability.
- Collaborate with internal communications, branding, and corporate affairs teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of employee engagement and local capacity-building initiatives that promote inclusion and organisational effectiveness.
- Lead strategic crisis response initiatives, including proactive reputation management, stakeholder communication, and media engagement strategies.
Educational Qualification
- Degree with equivalent postgraduate qualifications in Corporate Management, Law, Public Affairs, International Relations, or related corporate affairs disciplines.
Legal Requirement
- Legal eligibility to work and reside in Ghana.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience within the mining industry or related sectors, specifically in corporate affairs, sustainability, government relations, or stakeholder engagement roles.
- Proven experience managing complex government, regulatory, and civil society relationships within challenging operational environments.
- Strong understanding of political, regulatory, and governance frameworks affecting mining and corporate operations.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to anticipate risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to represent organisations effectively at high-level meetings, conferences, and public forums.
- Proven leadership capability with experience managing multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
