Position Summary

We are seeking a responsible, caring, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for children at our center. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen organization while ensuring children receive healthy and well-prepared meals daily.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working in a child-focused environment and takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and food preparation.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Service

• Assist in preparing meals and snacks for children according to the approved menu.
• Support the cook in washing, cutting, and organizing food ingredients.
• Serve meals in a timely and hygienic manner.
• Ensure portion sizes are appropriate for children’s dietary needs.

Hygiene & Sanitation

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment thoroughly after use.
• Follow strict hygiene and food safety standards in all kitchen activities.
• Dispose of waste properly and ensure cleanliness of food storage areas.

Food Safety & Storage

• Assist in storing food items properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
• Monitor basic food supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Support proper labeling and organization of kitchen items.

Support Duties

• Assist in receiving and organizing food deliveries.
• Help maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and cleaning materials.
• Support the cook and kitchen staff in daily operational tasks.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Basic education is required.
• Previous experience in food preparation, catering, school kitchen, or similar environment will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of basic hygiene and food safety practices is preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in a childcare-focused environment.
