We invite highly qualified and dedicated Anaesthesiologists to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to excellence in patient care, education, and research.
Position Summary
The Anaesthesiologist will provide comprehensive perioperative care, including pre-operative assessment, administration of anaesthesia, post-operative management, critical care support, pain management, and emergency resuscitation services.
The successful candidate will play a key role in teaching and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students while contributing to clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental leadership activities.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Anaesthesia Services
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic evaluations, including patient history, physical examinations, and risk assessments.
- Counsel patients and families on anaesthesia options, procedures, benefits, and associated risks.
- Develop individualized anaesthetic management plans based on patient conditions and surgical requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary discussions regarding anaesthetic care plans.
- Administer general, regional, and monitored anaesthesia care for surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure optimal physiological stability and patient safety.
- Manage airways, fluid therapy, haemodynamic support, and intraoperative emergencies.
- Evaluate patient histories, laboratory results, and surgical plans to determine appropriate anaesthesia and pain management strategies.
Perioperative & Post-Anaesthesia Care
- Direct post-anaesthesia care and oversee patient recovery processes.
- Manage post-operative pain control and monitor for complications, including haemodynamic instability and delirium.
- Determine patient readiness for progression through recovery stages.
- Ensure effective handover of patient care to surgical, nursing, and critical care teams.
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and compliant anaesthetic records.
Critical Care, Pain Management & Emergency Response
- Provide specialist care within Intensive Care Units (ICU).
- Participate in emergency resuscitation and critical care interventions.
- Manage acute and chronic pain services.
- Lead difficult airway management and emergency response protocols when required.
Teaching, Training & Mentorship
- Mentor, supervise, and train anaesthesia residents, fellows, and medical students.
- Provide bedside teaching, clinical supervision, and procedural guidance.
- Explain anaesthetic pharmacology, physiology, and crisis management principles during clinical practice.
- Demonstrate advanced anaesthesia techniques, including awake fibreoptic intubation and transoesophageal echocardiography.
- Conduct lectures, simulation-based training sessions, and departmental academic meetings.
- Assess trainee performance through direct observation and structured evaluations.
- Participate in residency programme committees and trainee credentialing activities.
Research & Academic Contributions
- Conduct and supervise clinical research initiatives.
- Design, implement, and oversee clinical studies and evidence-based practice protocols.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific meetings where appropriate.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement programmes.
- Lead or contribute to morbidity and mortality conferences and departmental reviews.
Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
- Participate actively in morbidity and mortality meetings.
- Support clinical audits and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
- Promote patient safety and quality care throughout all clinical activities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, physicians, nurses, technicians, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate operating theatre activities to support efficient patient flow and service delivery.
- Contribute to departmental planning, policy development, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational & Professional Requirements
- Member or Fellow with specialization in Anaesthesia from a recognized medical college.
- Registered Medical Practitioner in good standing with the relevant Medical and Dental Council.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications will be an advantage.
Experience
- Demonstrated clinical experience in anaesthesia practice.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Proven involvement in clinical teaching, supervision, and mentorship activities.
- Research experience and participation in academic or clinical improvement initiatives.
- Experience in critical care, perioperative medicine, pain management, or emergency response services will be an advantage.
