We invite visionary and distinguished academic leaders to apply for the position of College Principal. This is a senior leadership role for an individual who demonstrates exceptional academic stature, strategic leadership, and a strong commitment to advancing teacher education and institutional excellence.

Position Summary

The College Principal will provide strategic leadership and overall administrative oversight of the College. The successful candidate will drive academic excellence, institutional development, research advancement, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and educational policies.

The Principal will lead the College in fulfilling its vision and mission and position it as a center of excellence in teacher education.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Provide strategic leadership to achieve the College’s vision, mission, and institutional goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and academic priorities.
  • Inspire staff and students to uphold excellence, discipline, and innovation.
  • Represent the College in official, academic, and stakeholder engagements locally and internationally.

Academic Leadership & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of all academic programmes.
  • Ensure the maintenance of high academic standards and quality assurance systems.
  • Supervise curriculum development, review, and programme accreditation processes.
  • Promote innovative teaching, learning methodologies, and educational technologies.

Administration & Resource Management

  • Manage the College’s human, financial, and material resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure prudent financial management and accountability in line with institutional policies.
  • Strengthen administrative systems to support operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee infrastructure development and institutional asset management.

Research, Innovation & Community Engagement

  • Promote a strong culture of research, innovation, and academic scholarship.
  • Support faculty in publishing and contributing to reputable academic work.
  • Foster partnerships with local and international institutions.
  • Lead community engagement initiatives that strengthen the College’s societal impact.

Governance, Compliance & Institutional Integrity

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and institutional policies.
  • Promote discipline, professionalism, and ethical conduct across the College.
  • Strengthen governance structures and internal control systems.
  • Uphold transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.

Stakeholder Engagement & Resource Mobilization

  • Build and sustain partnerships with government agencies, educational bodies, and development partners.
  • Lead resource mobilization and fundraising initiatives to support institutional growth.
  • Strengthen collaboration with stakeholders within and outside Ghana.
  • Promote the College’s visibility and academic reputation.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a distinguished academic scholar at Professorial rank.
  • Possess a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Have a minimum of ten (10) years of teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
  • Have at least five (5) years of experience in a senior management or leadership position.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly publications in reputable outlets.
  • Show evidence of leadership in academic administration and institutional development.
  • Possess strong skills in leadership, communication, and strategic management.
  • Demonstrate ability in resource mobilization and fundraising.
  • Have proven experience in managing human, financial, and physical resources.
  • Exhibit high moral integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership.
  • Demonstrate ability to build partnerships locally and internationally.

Terms of Appointment

  • The appointment is for a four (4) year term.
  • Renewal for a further four (4) year term is subject to satisfactory performance.
