As the organization continues to grow, it is transforming its finance function from a transactional support role into a strategic business partner and operational backbone. We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead this evolution and provide the financial leadership required to support sustainable growth.

The Opportunity
As Head of Finance, you will serve as the principal financial leader of the organization. You will oversee financial reporting, treasury, controls, compliance, tax, budgeting, forecasting, and team leadership while ensuring the integrity of both company and customer funds.
Reporting directly to the Head of Business, you will work closely with operational leadership across the branch network to provide accurate financial insights, strengthen controls, and support strategic decision-making.
This is a highly visible leadership role with significant influence on business performance, operational efficiency, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead all accounting and finance activities across the organization.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
- Deliver management accounts and performance reports that support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards, KPIs, and business performance metrics.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury operations.
- Oversee cash-on-delivery reconciliations and merchant settlement processes.
- Ensure effective monitoring and safeguarding of company and customer funds.
- Develop rolling cash-flow forecasts to support operational and strategic planning.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Monitor business performance against budget and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Deliver profitability and contribution analysis by region, branch, and product line.
- Support the business with financial modelling and growth planning.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements in Ghana.
- Oversee tax compliance, including obligations with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), SSNIT, and other regulatory bodies.
- Maintain compliance with the Companies Act and applicable accounting standards.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure timely completion of year-end audit processes.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Design, implement, and continuously improve financial controls.
- Strengthen segregation of duties across the branch network.
- Monitor financial, operational, and fraud risks and ensure timely escalation of critical issues.
- Ensure that all payments are supported by appropriate documentation, approvals, and audit trails.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Build a finance function capable of delivering timely and accurate outputs with minimal supervision.
Success Measures
First 90 Days
- Gain complete understanding of the ledger, chart of accounts, control accounts, and cash position.
- Establish a structured month-end close process and management reporting calendar.
- Ensure cash-on-delivery reconciliations and merchant payouts are fully reconciled across all regions.
- Review statutory compliance status and address any outstanding gaps.
First Six Months
- Implement a rolling cash-flow forecast and operational budget framework.
- Strengthen internal controls and segregation of duties across branches.
- Deliver monthly profitability reporting by region and product line.
- Improve receivables collection and payable management performance.
First Twelve Months
- Deliver a clean and timely external audit.
- Build a high-performing finance function capable of consistently meeting reporting deadlines.
- Provide reliable forecasting, unit economics, and business insights to support profitable scaling and external due diligence requirements.
Operating Standards
The successful candidate will consistently ensure that:
- Monthly management accounts are issued within agreed timelines.
- All statutory filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- Payroll is funded, processed, and posted accurately.
- Cash-on-delivery and merchant settlements are reconciled and completed within agreed service levels.
- No payment is processed without appropriate approval, supporting documentation, and recordkeeping.
- Segregation of duties is maintained across all financial processes.
- Material risks relating to cash, compliance, or fraud are escalated immediately.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Professional accounting qualification and membership of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent professional body. Advanced-stage finalists with strong demonstrated capability may also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of six years of finance and accounting experience, including at least three years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, management reporting, treasury management, and statutory compliance in Ghana.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and enforcing internal control frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in accounting systems, financial reporting tools, spreadsheets, and dashboard development.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- Willingness to be based in Greater Accra.
Desirable
- Experience within logistics, e-commerce, fintech, distribution, payments, or other high-volume operational environments.
- Experience managing cash-on-delivery, merchant settlement, float management, or agent-cash controls.
- Multi-site or multi-branch financial management experience.
- Previous audit experience within a professional services environment.
- Experience supporting investor reporting, lender reporting, or due diligence processes.
- IFRS or IFRS for SMEs reporting experience.
- Experience with payroll systems and integrated HR/ERP platforms.
