Position Summary
The School of Natural Resources invites applications from highly qualified, experienced, and research-oriented academics for appointment as Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in Fire, Safety and Disaster Management.
Successful candidates will contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, and academic leadership while advancing knowledge and practice in fire safety, emergency preparedness, risk management, and disaster resilience.
The University seeks professionals committed to excellence in teaching, impactful research, and the development of practical solutions to national and global safety and disaster challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Fire, Safety and Disaster Management.
- Develop and continuously review academic programmes and course materials.
- Conduct impactful research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Secure and manage research grants and collaborative projects.
- Provide academic mentorship and professional guidance to students.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university governance activities.
- Contribute to disaster risk reduction research, innovation, and policy development.
- Engage with industry and emergency management agencies for practical training and collaboration.
- Support community outreach and capacity-building initiatives in safety and disaster management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Professor
- PhD in Fire Safety, Disaster Management, Emergency Management, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Strong record of academic leadership, teaching, and research excellence.
- Extensive publications in reputable international journals.
- Proven experience in postgraduate supervision and research funding acquisition.
- Recognized contributions to national or international safety and disaster management practice.
Associate Professor
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Strong record of scholarly publications and research contributions.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and postgraduate supervision.
- Experience in academic leadership and curriculum development.
Senior Lecturer
- PhD in Fire Safety, Disaster Management, or related discipline.
- Established record of teaching and research publications.
- Experience in supervising student research projects.
- Ability to contribute to academic administration and professional training.
Lecturer
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.
- Strong communication, analytical, and academic writing skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and academic development.
