Role Purpose

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to join our team in Accra. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a safe working environment while supporting operational excellence across the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
• Deliver safety training, awareness programs, and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
• Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging employee engagement and adherence to safe work practices.
• Collaborate with department heads to implement risk mitigation strategies and continuous safety improvements.
• Monitor emergency preparedness procedures and support the coordination of drills and response activities.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Stay informed about emerging safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements

• Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in health, safety, environmental management, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience within the hospitality, construction, manufacturing, facilities management, or related sectors will be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and risk management practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety concerns.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
• High learning agility and the ability to adapt to new challenges and changing environments.
• Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety reporting tools.
