We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced School Counselor to join our team and play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and success of our students.

Position Summary

The School Counselor will provide professional counseling services that support students’ academic achievement, social-emotional development, personal wellbeing, and career readiness. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

This role requires a caring professional who is passionate about student development and committed to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing within the school community.

Key Responsibilities

Student Counseling & Support

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to support students’ academic, personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Help students develop healthy coping strategies, resilience, self-confidence, and positive decision-making skills.
  • Support students facing academic, behavioral, social, or emotional challenges.
  • Identify students who may require additional interventions and coordinate appropriate support services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.

Student Wellbeing & Safeguarding

  • Promote student wellbeing through preventive and developmental counseling programs.
  • Support the implementation of school safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to student welfare concerns and wellbeing risks.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all learners.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and provide support during emergencies affecting students.

Parent & Family Engagement

  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to support student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Provide guidance and resources to families on student development and mental health matters.
  • Participate in parent meetings and school events as required.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with families regarding student support plans.

Collaboration with Staff

  • Work closely with teachers, school leaders, and support staff to identify and address student needs.
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to support student learning, behavior, and wellbeing.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and student support discussions.
  • Support professional development initiatives related to student wellbeing and mental health awareness.

Career & Academic Guidance

  • Assist students with academic planning and goal setting.
  • Provide age-appropriate career awareness and educational guidance.
  • Support students in developing skills for future academic and career success.
  • Help students make informed decisions regarding educational pathways and personal development goals.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

Candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Social Work, Mental Health, Human Development, or a related field.
  • A School Counseling Certificate or Professional Counseling License is strongly preferred.
  • Additional certifications in child psychology, mental health, safeguarding, or student wellbeing will be considered an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in school counseling, student support services, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counseling, student guidance, and wellbeing support.
  • Experience in an international school environment will be an added advantage.
