Position Summary
The Graphic Designer / Motion Graphics Designer will develop visually engaging static and motion content that supports broadcast programming, marketing campaigns, digital platforms, and live events. The successful candidate will transform creative briefs into powerful visual stories that strengthen brand identity and audience engagement across multiple platforms.
This role requires strong artistic ability, technical expertise, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced media environment.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Design & Visual Development
- Design high-quality adverts, promotional materials, and marketing communications for TV stations, shows, events, and campaigns.
- Create compelling visual identities for programmes, special projects, events, and brand initiatives.
- Develop show montages, event visuals, and campaign-based creative content.
- Ensure all designs align with brand guidelines and maintain consistency across platforms.
Motion Graphics & Broadcast Design
- Produce motion graphics including animated visuals, title sequences, lower thirds, transitions, and show openers.
- Create broadcast-ready graphics for television screens, studio displays, and live productions.
- Design dynamic visual content for on-air promotions and digital storytelling.
- Enhance video content through animation, effects, and motion design techniques.
Digital & Campaign Content
- Develop social media graphics, digital campaign materials, and online promotional assets.
- Create engaging visuals for digital platforms, presentations, and events.
- Support marketing and digital teams with creative design solutions.
Collaboration & Creative Execution
- Work closely with marketing, production, programmes, digital, and events teams to deliver creative assets on time.
- Interpret creative briefs and translate them into strong visual concepts.
- Contribute ideas to campaign development, promo concepts, and storytelling strategies.
- Ensure all creative output meets deadlines and production schedules.
Quality Control & Brand Consistency
- Review all creative work to ensure accuracy, quality, and brand alignment.
- Maintain consistency across all Media General brands and platforms.
- Ensure final outputs are free of errors in layout, spelling, and technical execution.
- Prepare files for broadcast, digital, print, and event use.
Innovation & Industry Awareness
- Use modern design tools, AI-assisted tools, and motion software to improve efficiency and creativity.
- Research industry trends in design, media, and broadcast to keep visual content fresh and competitive.
- Continuously explore new creative techniques and technologies.
Workflow & Project Management
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Maintain high levels of organisation and attention to detail.
- Respond quickly and professionally to feedback and revisions.
- Support team efficiency through effective time management and prioritization.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Film, Media, Communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in graphic design, motion graphics, broadcast design, advertising, media, or digital content creation.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic design, motion graphics, animation, branding, and visual storytelling.
- Experience working in a fast-paced media, creative agency, broadcast, or entertainment environment will be an added advantage.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
- Strong skills in motion graphics, animation, and video editing.
- Experience in broadcast graphics, typography, layout, and colour theory.
- Strong knowledge of social media and digital content design.
- Ability to apply visual branding and campaign design principles effectively.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design and creative tools.
- Ability to prepare files for television, digital, print, and event platforms.
