As part of our continued growth and commitment to excellence, we are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Trading to lead our Treasury Trading function and drive the Bank’s trading strategy across foreign exchange and fixed-income markets.

Position Summary

The Head of Trading will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Bank’s trading activities, ensuring optimal management of foreign exchange and fixed-income portfolios while maximizing profitability within approved risk parameters. The successful candidate will monitor market developments, execute trading strategies, maintain regulatory compliance, and cultivate strong relationships with clients and market participants.

Key Responsibilities

Trading Strategy & Execution

• Develop and implement trading strategies that align with the Bank’s treasury objectives and risk appetite.
• Lead trading activities across foreign exchange, fixed income, and other approved financial instruments.
• Monitor market developments, economic indicators, and industry trends to identify trading opportunities.
• Execute transactions efficiently while optimizing profitability and managing risk exposure.
• Ensure competitive pricing and effective market positioning.

Treasury & Portfolio Management

• Manage and oversee the Bank’s trading portfolio to achieve targeted financial performance.
• Analyze market movements and adjust trading positions accordingly.
• Monitor liquidity, interest rate exposure, and foreign exchange positions.
• Recommend investment and trading opportunities that support business growth and revenue generation.

Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all trading activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and market guidelines.
• Monitor trading risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Maintain compliance with foreign exchange regulations and banking industry standards.
• Collaborate with Risk Management, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams to strengthen governance and controls.

Market Analysis & Intelligence

• Conduct in-depth analysis of domestic and international financial markets.
• Evaluate market conditions and provide timely recommendations to senior management.
• Identify emerging opportunities and potential risks affecting trading performance.
• Produce market insights and trading reports to support strategic decision-making.

Business Development & Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, correspondent banks, regulators, and market participants.
• Identify opportunities to expand trading activities and grow the Bank’s market presence.
• Support the development of treasury products and services that meet client needs.
• Promote the Bank’s trading capabilities and strengthen its reputation within the financial sector.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Trading team to achieve high performance and operational excellence.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Set performance objectives and monitor achievement against established targets.
• Support succession planning and talent development initiatives within the Treasury function.

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare and present trading performance reports to senior management and relevant committees.
• Monitor key performance indicators and ensure timely reporting of trading activities.
• Support strategic planning and budgeting processes for the Treasury function.
• Ensure transparency, accuracy, and integrity in all trading records and reporting activities.

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by executive management.
• Contribute to broader Treasury and organizational strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.

Professional Certifications

• Minimum ACI Certification is required.
• Additional treasury, financial markets, risk management, or investment-related certifications will be considered an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of trading experience in fixed income and foreign exchange products.
• Proven experience managing trading portfolios and executing treasury market transactions.
• Demonstrated experience within a banking or financial services environment.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of fixed income markets and foreign exchange trading.
• Good understanding of foreign exchange guidelines, banking practices, and the local banking system.
• Strong understanding of treasury operations, market risk management, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with financial market instruments, pricing models, and trading systems.
