We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Engineer, Projects to support the planning, coordination, and execution of underground mining infrastructure and capital projects. Position Summary

The Engineer, Projects will support the planning, design, execution, and monitoring of underground mining infrastructure and capital projects. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with engineering standards and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Delivery

• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of underground mining infrastructure and capital projects.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, resource plans, and technical documentation to support project delivery.
• Monitor project progress and recommend corrective actions to maintain schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
• Contribute to project evaluations, feasibility assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Engineering Design and Technical Support

• Prepare and review engineering layouts, infrastructure designs, and technical documentation.
• Integrate drill designs and underground infrastructure layouts into mine planning software to support operational execution.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Provide technical support during project construction, commissioning, and operational handover.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with Mining, Geology, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, and Contractor teams to ensure effective project execution.
• Coordinate engineering activities to align project milestones with operational priorities.
• Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to facilitate successful project outcomes.

Safety and Compliance

• Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all project activities comply with company policies, statutory regulations, and engineering standards.
• Participate in project risk assessments, safety inspections, and operational reviews.
• Identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies to support safe project delivery.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

• Prepare project progress reports, engineering documentation, and technical presentations.
• Analyse engineering and project data to support informed decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve project planning processes, engineering efficiency, and operational performance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Mechanical) or a related engineering discipline.
• Additional training in Project Management or Underground Infrastructure Planning is desirable.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or membership/certification with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in underground mining, including exposure to mining infrastructure or project-focused roles.
• Working knowledge of capital project evaluation, underground mine services design, and project execution.
• Experience integrating drill designs and infrastructure layouts into mine planning software such as Deswik.
• Exposure to alliance-style contractor-owner environments and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Sound understanding of project scoping, work sequencing, scheduling, and cost alignment within mining operations.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in Deswik CAD and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Deswik Scheduler is an advantage.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong technical knowledge of underground mining infrastructure and engineering project delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to design accuracy, compliance, and execution requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contractor-owner environments.
• Ability to work underground and travel between operational work areas as required.
• Ability to work with computer systems for extended periods in an office environment.
• Physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements.
