Auto Service Engineer (Auto-Electrical)

Location: Accra, Ghana

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Auto Service Engineer (Auto-Electrical) to join our technical team and support the maintenance and servicing of conventional and electric vehicles.

Role Purpose

The Auto Service Engineer (Auto-Electrical) will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicle electrical and electronic systems. The successful candidate will provide technical support, perform advanced diagnostics, and ensure vehicles are serviced safely and efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and software-related vehicle faults using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform vehicle diagnostics on OBD II/III systems, Electronic Control Units (ECUs), Body Control Modules (BCMs), and other electronic control systems.
  • Carry out vehicle maintenance, repairs, and servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Replace, program, calibrate, and configure vehicle components and electronic modules.
  • Inspect, maintain, and overhaul high-voltage (HV) systems, including battery packs, inverters, DC-DC converters, and associated electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues affecting electric vehicle (EV) control systems using OEM diagnostic tools and specialised software.
  • Provide field service support and technical assistance to customers when required.
  • Maintain accurate service records, diagnostic reports, and repair documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive electrical safety standards and best practices, particularly when working with high-voltage systems.
  • Deliver professional customer service by explaining technical issues and recommending appropriate repair solutions.
  • Stay up to date with emerging automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and electric vehicle developments.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

Education

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or higher qualification in Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Auto-Electrical option), or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in vehicle software diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis.
  • Hands-on experience in component replacement, programming, and calibration.
  • Practical experience servicing high-voltage electric vehicle systems, including battery packs, inverters, and DC-DC converters.
  • Previous field service and technical support experience will be an advantage.
  • Experience in automotive electrical engineering or electric vehicle servicing is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of OBD II/III diagnostics, ECU, BCM, and other vehicle electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic tools, including OEM-specific diagnostic software.
  • Solid understanding of electric vehicle electrical architecture and control systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical safety standards and safe handling of high-voltage components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
