Job Summary

The Junior Assistant Registrar (Human Resource Management) will support the effective delivery of human resource services across the University. The successful candidate will assist in managing employee lifecycle processes, staff records, recruitment activities, performance management, employee relations, and HR reporting while ensuring compliance with University policies, statutes, and applicable labour regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, including job advertising, shortlisting, interview coordination, and staff onboarding.
  • Process staff appointments, confirmations, promotions, transfers, secondments, and separations in accordance with University statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date personnel records and HR databases.
  • Coordinate staff performance appraisal processes and support the implementation of effective performance management frameworks.
  • Handle staff discipline, grievance, welfare, and employee relations matters in line with labour laws and University regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and staff on HR policies, conditions of service, and employment-related matters.
  • Coordinate staff training, professional development, and capacity-building programmes.
  • Prepare HR reports, workforce statistics, returns, and other relevant documents for University Management and regulatory bodies.
  • Liaise with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Labour Commission, and other public sector institutions on HR-related matters.
  • Support continuous improvement of HR processes, systems, and service delivery.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Human Resource Directorate, the Registrar, the Vice-Chancellor, or the University Council.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a good first degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Hold an M.Phil. or a two-year research Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Possess strong knowledge of human resource management principles, employment practices, and administrative procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Possess computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) will be an added advantage.
