Position Summary

The Primary School Teacher – Key Stage 2 will deliver engaging, high-quality instruction that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and social development. The successful candidate will create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment, foster positive relationships with students and families, and contribute actively to the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver High-Quality Teaching and Learning

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that align with the Key Stage 2 curriculum and educational standards.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, learning resources, and educational technologies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and learning styles of students.
  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and independent learning.

Assess Student Progress

  • Design and administer assessments to monitor student learning and academic progress.
  • Analyse assessment data to inform instructional planning and improve learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and academic performance.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and communicate progress effectively with parents and guardians.

Create a Positive Learning Environment

  • Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organised classroom that promotes respect and active learning.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that encourage positive behaviour and student engagement.
  • Address behavioural concerns constructively while promoting students’ social and emotional development.

Support Individual Learners

  • Identify and respond to the individual learning needs of students, including those requiring additional educational support.
  • Provide differentiated instruction, targeted interventions, and enrichment opportunities to maximise student success.
  • Work collaboratively with learning support specialists and other professionals to ensure every learner receives appropriate support.

Build Strong Partnerships with Families

  • Maintain open, professional, and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other activities that strengthen home-school partnerships.
  • Foster positive relationships that support student learning and development.

Contribute to Professional Excellence

  • Participate actively in professional development programmes to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.
  • Stay informed about current educational research, innovative teaching methodologies, and best practices in primary education.
  • Reflect on teaching practice and implement continuous improvements to enhance student outcomes.

Collaborate with Colleagues

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, and support staff to deliver a cohesive and enriching educational experience.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives, and whole-school improvement programmes.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and extracurricular activities.

Promote Student Safety and Well-being

  • Safeguard the welfare, health, and safety of all students by adhering to school safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Ensure compliance with school procedures relating to health, safety, attendance, and emergency protocols.
  • Uphold the school’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • A recognised teaching certification or professional teaching qualification.
  • Sound knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and current educational standards.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for educating children in the upper primary years.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills.
  • A collaborative approach to teaching and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
