Position Summary
As a Warehouse Officer – National Service Scheme (NSS), you will support the efficient day-to-day operations of our warehouse by receiving, sorting, storing, tracking, and dispatching consignments accurately and safely. You will work closely with warehouse, dispatch, and fulfilment teams to ensure inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
As the Warehouse Officer – NSS, you will:
- Receive inbound consignments by verifying manifests, counting parcels, and inspecting packaging for damage, tampering, or incorrect labelling.
- Record shortages, excess items, damaged goods, and other discrepancies, escalating unresolved issues before accepting deliveries.
- Scan or label parcels, complete system receipts, and store items in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, storage locations, and movement logs while supporting routine cycle counts and stock reconciliations.
- Sort and consolidate parcels by branch, destination, client, route, or service priority to ensure accurate and timely distribution.
- Pick, pack, inspect, and label customer orders in accordance with approved picking lists and quality standards.
- Process returned consignments by inspecting parcel conditions, recording return reasons, updating inventory systems, and routing items appropriately.
- Prepare outbound consignments and manifests, verifying parcel counts before handing over shipments to Dispatch teams, riders, or drivers with proper documentation.
- Maintain warehouse records and prepare daily operational reports covering receipts, inventory movements, returns, damages, discrepancies, and outstanding tasks.
- Keep warehouse work areas clean, organized, and safe by complying with warehouse housekeeping, security, fire safety, and manual handling procedures.
- Support inventory audits, stock counts, warehouse improvement initiatives, and other operational activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Eligibility to undertake National Service during the 2026/2027 National Service year, with all academic requirements completed before service commencement.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Warehouse Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Internship, industrial attachment, volunteer, or practical experience in warehousing, logistics, supply chain, procurement, retail stock management, or fulfilment operations.
- Experience using barcode scanners, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory software, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Familiarity with order picking, packing, stocktaking, inventory reconciliation, returns processing, or e-commerce fulfilment operations.
- Training or certification in warehouse safety, occupational health and safety, manual handling, or fire safety will be an added advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Good understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and stock control principles.
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to accurately interpret manifests, parcel labels, quantities, and storage location codes.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, smartphones, barcode scanners, and warehouse or inventory management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and integrity when handling inventory and reporting discrepancies.
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
- Commitment to workplace safety, security, and compliance with operational procedures.
- Physical ability and willingness to perform warehouse duties, including standing, walking, lifting, sorting, counting, and packing parcels for extended periods.
