Key Responsibilities
As the Accounts and Finance Manager, you will:
- Lead the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain sound financial management policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee cash flow management and ensure the organization’s financial sustainability.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, donor, and organizational financial requirements.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor grant funding, donor budgets, and project expenditures to ensure compliance with funding agreements.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to support organizational planning and decision-making.
- Oversee tax compliance, statutory filings, and other financial reporting obligations.
- Supervise and mentor finance team members while promoting continuous improvement and accountability.
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support organizational leadership with financial modelling, resource planning, and investment decisions where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Master’s Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA, or an equivalent recognized certification.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience managing finance and accounting functions within a local non-governmental organization (NGO), social enterprise, business network, or similar organization.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong understanding of financial governance, compliance, and donor-funded project management.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar financial management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and accounting principles.
- Experience preparing financial reports for management, donors, and regulatory authorities.
- Excellent analytical, budgeting, and financial forecasting capabilities.
