Location: Accra, Ghana

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven Accounts Officer – Q to support our Finance team. The successful candidate will manage accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, support reporting processes, and contribute to effective financial control and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Record Keeping

As an Accounts Officer – Q, you will:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, financial transactions, and supporting documentation.
  • Process and record receipts, payments, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of books of accounts in line with accounting standards and internal procedures.
  • Organise and maintain financial records and filing systems for easy retrieval and audit purposes.

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

You will:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities promptly.
  • Prepare financial analyses and management reports to support informed decision-making.

Cash & Treasury Management

You will:

  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows to support effective liquidity management.
  • Assist with treasury operations and maintain efficient cash management processes.
  • Verify transaction documentation and ensure all payments are properly authorised before processing.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Management

You will:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes effectively.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Process supplier payments and maintain accurate creditor records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial obligations.

Budgeting & Expense Control

You will:

  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and identify significant variances.
  • Assist with cost control initiatives and expenditure monitoring.

Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls

You will:

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare statutory and regulatory reports within required timelines.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by providing accurate financial information and documentation.
  • Maintain adherence to financial controls, policies, and procedures.

Payroll Administration

You will:

  • Support payroll processing and statutory deduction administration where required.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Operational Support

You will:

  • Provide financial support and guidance to branch and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve financial processes and service delivery.
  • Perform other finance-related duties assigned by management.

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicants must possess one of the following:

Option 1

  • A First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant post-qualification experience.

Option 2

  • WASSCE qualification with a focus on Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant post-qualification experience.

Professional Qualifications

Professional certifications or part qualifications in any of the following will be an advantage:

  • ACCA
  • ICA Ghana
  • CIMA
  • CA Ghana
  • Other recognised accounting qualifications

Industry Experience

  • Previous experience within a microfinance institution, financial services organisation, banking environment, or related industry will be an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Officer, Accountant, Finance Officer, or in a similar finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Knowledge of Bank of Ghana regulatory requirements will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
