Position Overview
The Assistant Human Resource Manager will support the management of the Human Resources function by coordinating recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, HR administration, and compliance activities. The role requires a hands-on HR professional with strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
- Support the planning and execution of end-to-end recruitment and selection processes.
- Coordinate interviews, candidate assessments, and onboarding activities.
- Develop recruitment strategies that attract and retain high-quality talent.
- Maintain an effective talent pipeline to support business needs.
Employee Relations
- Foster positive employee relations and contribute to a productive workplace culture.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
- Support the resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary matters, and workplace conflicts.
- Promote employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
Performance Management
- Support the implementation and administration of the company’s performance management system.
- Assist managers with performance reviews, goal setting, and employee development plans.
- Monitor performance improvement initiatives and follow up on agreed action plans.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Ghana Labour Laws and company policies.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Support HR audits and ensure proper record management.
- Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to reflect current legislation and best practices.
Learning and Development
- Identify employee training and development needs.
- Coordinate internal and external training programmes.
- Monitor learning initiatives and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Support succession planning and employee development activities.
HR Administration
- Prepare HR reports and workforce data for management.
- Support payroll administration and leave management processes where required.
- Maintain confidentiality in handling employee information.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the HR function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Professional HR certification (such as CIPD, SHRM, or an equivalent qualification) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ Human Resources experience.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, HR administration, and compliance.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Ghana Labour Laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is an advantage.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
