Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Assistant Manager (Extrusion Supervisor) to oversee extrusion operations within our flexible packaging manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead production teams, optimize manufacturing processes, drive quality improvements, reduce waste, and ensure efficient utilization of resources while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
This role requires strong technical expertise in extrusion processes, polymer technology, equipment troubleshooting, and lean manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Process Management
- Supervise and coordinate extrusion operations to ensure efficient and uninterrupted production.
- Ensure daily production targets and shift performance metrics are achieved.
- Monitor production processes and maintain strict adherence to operational procedures and quality standards.
- Support related production activities, including printing, slitting, and cutting operations where required.
- Ensure products are manufactured according to approved specifications and customer requirements.
- Identify production challenges and implement effective solutions to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives across extrusion operations.
Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent product quality through effective process control and compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to address process deviations.
- Reduce production waste and improve material utilization through process optimization initiatives.
- Participate in quality audits and support compliance with ISO quality management systems.
- Promote best manufacturing practices and operational discipline throughout the department.
Equipment & Maintenance Management
- Monitor extrusion equipment performance and ensure efficient machine operation.
- Troubleshoot production and equipment-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and support routine preventive maintenance activities.
- Resolve day-to-day operational and maintenance challenges effectively.
- Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently at all times.
Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead, coach, and develop production teams to achieve departmental objectives.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, materials, and production resources.
- Support workforce planning and shift coordination activities.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration across departments.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Support the implementation of operational excellence projects and process enhancements.
- Encourage innovation and best-practice sharing within the production team.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Technical Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Production Management, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience with demonstrated technical expertise will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a flexible packaging manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience as both an Operator and Supervisor within extrusion operations.
- Strong hands-on experience in extrusion processes and related manufacturing operations.
- Experience working in ISO-certified quality management environments.
