Position Summary
We are seeking an exceptional investment leader to join our executive team as Chief Investment Officer (Asset Management). The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the firm’s asset management business, oversee investment performance across multiple asset classes, and drive the development of innovative investment solutions that deliver both financial returns and measurable developmental impact.
Reporting to executive leadership, the CIO will lead portfolio management teams across private equity, private wealth, pensions, and institutional investment portfolios while ensuring alignment with the firm’s investment philosophy, risk framework, regulatory obligations, and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Define and implement Temple Investments’ overarching investment strategy and portfolio construction framework across all asset classes.
- Drive the firm’s investment vision, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, client mandates, and impact-investment goals.
- Lead asset allocation decisions and investment portfolio positioning based on market conditions, economic trends, and risk-return objectives.
- Oversee portfolio performance and ensure the achievement of investment targets across all business lines.
- Continuously evaluate market opportunities and emerging investment themes to enhance portfolio performance and diversification.
Asset Management Oversight
- Provide strategic direction, governance, and oversight for Portfolio Managers across private equity, private wealth, pensions, and institutional investment portfolios.
- Establish investment priorities, performance benchmarks, and portfolio management standards.
- Mentor, develop, and lead investment teams to strengthen technical capabilities and leadership capacity.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and investment excellence.
Investment Origination & Product Development
- Source, evaluate, and originate new investment opportunities, mandates, and products.
- Collaborate with Investment Banking and Advisory teams to structure innovative investment solutions for clients and investors.
- Identify opportunities for new fund offerings, alternative investment vehicles, and specialized asset management products.
- Drive initiatives that deliver measurable financial returns and sustainable development outcomes.
Client Relationship Management & Business Development
- Lead engagement with institutional investors, pension funds, corporate clients, development finance institutions, family offices, and high-net-worth investors.
- Participate in investment presentations, client pitches, portfolio reviews, and strategic business development activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and investment partners.
- Support the growth of the asset management business by identifying and securing new mandates and investment opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Operations team to drive revenue growth and expand market presence.
Risk Management, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all portfolios operate within approved investment guidelines, risk parameters, and client mandates.
- Oversee portfolio compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Maintain strong investment governance frameworks and decision-making processes.
- Monitor portfolio risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to the requirements of regulatory bodies and industry standards.
Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership
- Provide strategic insights on economic, market, and industry developments that impact investment decision-making.
- Represent Temple Investments at industry conferences, stakeholder engagements, regulatory forums, and investment events.
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives that strengthen the firm’s market reputation and influence.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across investment processes and portfolio management activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Investment Management, or a related discipline.
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration (MBA), Investment Management, or a related field will be highly advantageous.
Professional Qualifications
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder is mandatory.
- Valid Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) certification is required.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in asset management, fund management, investment management, or investment analysis.
- At least five (5) years of senior leadership experience managing investment teams and portfolio management functions.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering strong portfolio performance across multiple asset classes.
- Extensive experience in private equity, private wealth management, pensions, institutional fund management, and alternative investments.
- Proven success in originating and managing investment mandates and institutional client relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen and business development capability.
