Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain robust backend systems and microservices that power mission-critical applications. You will work on secure financial and transactional systems, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure high availability, performance, and scalability across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop RESTful APIs and micro services using Java and, where applicable, Node.js/TypeScript
• Build secure and high-performance systems that support financial transactions, payment processing, and reconciliation workflows
• Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms including OAuth2, JWT, and API key management
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to define and deliver clear API contracts and seamless integrations
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and contract tests as part of standard development practices
• Participate actively in code reviews, sprint planning, and architecture discussions
• Monitor, support, and maintain production services, and respond to incidents while contributing to post-incident reviews
• Document system designs, API specifications, and data flows clearly and consistently

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 2–4 years of professional backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 8+) and frameworks such as Spring Boot or equivalent
• Proven experience in designing and documenting RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and version control systems (Git)
• Hands-on experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, and a test-driven development mindset
• Strong understanding of backend security principles including JWT, HTTPS, input validation, and OWASP Top 10

Secondary Skills (JavaScript / TypeScript)

• Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript to support or review Node.js services
• Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS
• Comfort using npm/yarn-based development workflows

Infrastructure & Tools

• Experience with Git workflows including branching strategies and pull request reviews
• Basic understanding of Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
• Experience using API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech or payments systems, including PCI-DSS awareness, ledger systems, or reconciliation processes
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Understanding of micro services patterns including circuit breakers, retries, and idempotency
• Exposure to observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or ELK stack
• Familiarity with reactive programming concepts
