Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Boarding House Activities Coordinator & House Tutor to create a vibrant, safe, and engaging boarding environment. The successful candidate will design enriching student activities while providing pastoral care and supervision to ensure the well-being and development of all boarders.


Key Responsibilities

Activities Coordination

  • Design and deliver diverse activities that cater to varied interests and age groups
  • Manage event logistics, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with staff
  • Build a strong boarding community through inclusive and engaging programming
  • Mentor students by modeling leadership and encouraging active participation
  • Collaborate with house tutors to align activities with residential values
  • Document and evaluate program outcomes to continuously improve offerings

House Tutor Duties

  • Ensure the well-being, safety, discipline, and pastoral care of all boarders
  • Supervise daily boarding routines, including prep, meals, lights out, and general conduct
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in bedrooms and common areas, and coordinate maintenance needs
  • Support and supervise students’ academic and extracurricular commitments
  • Liaise with the Head of Boarding, medical staff, and other stakeholders on student welfare and emergencies
  • Accompany students to hospital appointments when required
  • Serve as tutor-on-duty and weekend duty tutor as assigned
  • Work with prefects to ensure security, discipline, and smooth operations within the boarding house
  • Supervise cleaning schedules, room inspections, and prefect responsibilities
  • Support communication and relationship-building with parents
  • Assist in planning and coordinating boarding programmes and weekend activities
  • Foster a safe, structured, and supportive residential environment

Person Specification / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), with experience in pastoral care, ideally within a school setting
  • Proven experience working with young people up to 18 years
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong human relations skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to make sound decisions and inspire trust, respect, and confidence
