We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and commercially driven Business Development Lead to spearhead growth initiatives, expand market opportunities, and secure high-value business partnerships. The successful candidate will lead business development strategies across the Group, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth through strategic commercial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

As Business Development Lead, you will:

  • Develop and execute a Group-wide business development strategy aligned with corporate goals and growth objectives.
  • Identify and pursue emerging opportunities across construction, engineering, energy, infrastructure, procurement, logistics, and related sectors.
  • Conduct market research, industry analysis, and competitor assessments to identify new opportunities.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for new products, services, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Provide strategic insights to support leadership decision-making and business growth.

Revenue Growth & Client Acquisition

You will:

  • Generate and develop new business opportunities across all business units within the Group.
  • Lead proposal development, tender submissions, and bid management activities.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects, projects, and commercial opportunities.
  • Develop compelling business proposals that demonstrate value and competitive advantage.
  • Negotiate and close strategic contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Drive customer acquisition and long-term client retention strategies.

Partnership & Stakeholder Management

You will:

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, multinational organisations, NGOs, developers, EPC contractors, investors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Identify partnership opportunities that support business expansion and market positioning.
  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences, business forums, and networking events.
  • Strengthen stakeholder engagement to create sustainable business opportunities.

Tender & Contract Management

You will:

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritise high-value tenders, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and commercial opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop competitive and winning bids.
  • Ensure proposals are commercially viable, profitable, and aligned with organisational capabilities.
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure smooth transition from opportunity to execution.

Market Expansion

You will:

  • Explore growth opportunities within Ghana and the wider West African market.
  • Assess new industries, markets, and investment opportunities.
  • Develop market entry strategies for emerging sectors.
  • Recommend initiatives that improve market share and strengthen the organisation’s competitive position.

Leadership & Collaboration

You will:

  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, and Project teams to support commercial objectives.
  • Provide commercial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Support the development of business development capabilities across the organisation.
  • Mentor and guide business development and sales teams to achieve performance targets.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Financial Performance

Success will be measured through:

  • Annual revenue growth achieved across the Group.
  • Value and profitability of new contracts secured.
  • Contribution of new business initiatives to overall Group revenue.
  • Financial performance of new market opportunities.

Commercial Growth

Performance will include:

  • Number and quality of strategic partnerships established.
  • Successful tenders and proposals secured.
  • Growth in client acquisition and retention.
  • Value of qualified opportunities within the business pipeline.

Strategic Impact

Success will also be measured by:

  • Expansion into new markets and business sectors.
  • Growth in market presence and competitive positioning.
  • Enhancement of corporate visibility and reputation.

Qualification Required & Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • An MBA or Master’s Degree in Business Strategy, Marketing, Project Management, or a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience in Business Development, Commercial Management, Sales Leadership, or Strategic Growth roles.
  • Proven track record of securing high-value contracts, partnerships, and commercial opportunities.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, energy, infrastructure, procurement, logistics, or related industries.
  • Experience leading multi-business or Group-wide commercial initiatives will be an added advantage.
