About the Role

fairafric is seeking a committed and experienced Cocoa Sourcing Manager to lead ethical and sustainable cocoa procurement in Suhum. In this role, you will actively source high-quality cocoa, strengthen farmer and cooperative partnerships, and ensure full traceability across the supply chain. You will drive sourcing strategies that align with production needs while upholding fairafric’s strong ethical, environmental, and social standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Source high-quality cocoa that meets fairafric’s ethical, quality, and certification standards.
• Develop and implement cocoa sourcing strategies aligned with production requirements.
• Monitor market trends, crop forecasts, and pricing to support informed procurement decisions.
• Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and aggregators to secure a reliable and sustainable supply base.
• Ensure full traceability and compliance with quality and sustainability standards in collaboration with the quality team.
• Negotiate supplier contracts and manage sourcing budgets to optimize procurement costs, logistics, and transportation efficiency.
• Implement and support sustainable sourcing initiatives that contribute to environmental and social impact goals.
• Engage actively with cocoa-growing communities to strengthen partnerships and promote farmer welfare and community development.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, including Ghana Cocoa Board and Licensed Buying Companies, to ensure full compliance with national policies and industry regulations.
• Maintain accurate sourcing data and documentation, and prepare regular reports on volumes, quality, costs, and supplier performance to support decision-making.

Requirements

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cocoa sourcing or agribusiness, with strong exposure to the cocoa value chain.

Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of Ghana’s cocoa sector, value chain, and regulatory framework.
• Proven experience working with farmer cooperatives, Licensed Buying Companies, and regulatory institutions.
• Solid knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and certification standards.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Ability to analyze sourcing data and prepare performance reports.
• Strong planning, logistics coordination, and supply chain management skills.
