Position Summary
The Drill and Blast Superintendent will oversee daily drill and blast activities, manage operational teams, optimize production efficiency, and ensure all blasting operations are conducted safely and effectively. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in achieving production targets and maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all drilling and blasting operations in accordance with company policies and mining regulations.
- Develop and implement drill and blast plans to optimize productivity and cost efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with mine planning, production, and technical teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Monitor blasting performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage and mentor drill and blast crews to maintain a high-performance culture.
- Prepare operational reports, production data, and performance analyses.
- Oversee the handling, storage, and usage of explosives in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Promote a safe, collaborative, and welcoming work environment for all employees and contractors.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in blasting operations and explosives management will be an advantage.
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in drill and blast operations within the mining industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Sound knowledge of drilling, blasting, and mine production techniques.
- Excellent understanding of mining safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
