Position Summary

The Electrical Technician – Shovel & Drill maintains, diagnoses, and repairs electrical systems on heavy mining equipment, particularly shovels and drill rigs. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and upholds strict safety and operational standards.

The successful candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and fault resolution.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Technician will:

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on shovels and drill equipment.

• Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and technical manuals.

• Perform preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards.

• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.

• Record maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately.

• Collaborate with mechanical and operations teams to improve equipment reliability.

• Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and safety practices.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.

• Perform any other duties assigned to enhance operational efficiency.

Educational & Professional Requirements

• Minimum of a Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Technology, or a related field.

• Valid electrical certification recognized by relevant regulatory authorities in Ghana.

• Proven experience working with heavy mining equipment, particularly shovels and drill rigs.

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, and automated control systems (preferred).

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical manuals.

• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
