Role Purpose

The Electrician will provide specialized electrical expertise to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems in underground hard rock mining operations. The role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, contributing directly to operational productivity and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Operations and Maintenance

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in underground mining operations.

• Troubleshoot electrical faults and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.

• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards in all electrical work.

Technical Support and Collaboration

• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure seamless operational support.

• Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians where applicable.

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere strictly to underground mining safety protocols and electrical safety standards.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

• Identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures to mitigate risk.

Continuous Improvement

• Recommend improvements to electrical systems and processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.

• Participate in problem-solving sessions and technical reviews to optimize operational performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognized university.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in hard rock underground mining operations.

• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems, machinery, and mining equipment.

• Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance in mining environments.
