Position Overview
MTN Ghana invites applications for the role of General Manager, Organisational Effectiveness & Performance. The successful candidate will lead enterprise-wide strategies that drive organisational design, performance excellence, capability development, and cultural transformation.
This role partners closely with executive leadership to align people, structure, and capability with MTN’s strategic priorities, ensuring sustained organisational performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Organisational Effectiveness Strategy
- Design and implement an integrated Organisational Effectiveness (OE) framework aligned to MTN Ghana’s business strategy
- Translate corporate strategy into organisational structure, capability, workforce, and performance requirements
- Oversee organisational design, job architecture, and workforce productivity models
- Establish enterprise standards for performance management, goal alignment, and accountability
- Lead continuous diagnosis of organisational health using data and analytics to inform decision-making
Learning, Development & Capability Governance
- Provide strategic oversight for enterprise learning, leadership development, and succession planning
- Drive leadership development and career management initiatives in a fast-evolving digital environment
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, positioning MTN Ghana as a learning organisation
- Ensure capability development initiatives are future-focused and aligned to business priorities
- Establish frameworks to measure ROI and impact of learning and talent investments
- Lead the development and execution of talent management strategies aligned with business objectives
- Build and sustain strong internal talent pipelines to meet future workforce needs
Talent, Performance Management & Culture Enablement
- Oversee the design and execution of the organisation’s Talent and Performance Management framework
- Align individual, team, and organisational performance outcomes
- Drive initiatives that embed a high-performance, values-driven culture across the organisation
- Ensure performance systems promote fairness, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Lead enterprise succession planning, including identification of critical roles and leadership pipeline development
- Strengthen leadership readiness and organisational bench strength through structured talent reviews
- Align succession planning and talent development with strategic business priorities
Workforce Effectiveness, OD & Change Leadership
- Lead enterprise organisational development interventions, including restructuring and operating model optimisation
- Sponsor and govern large-scale transformation and change initiatives
- Ensure consistent application of change management methodologies across the organisation
- Identify organisational risks and capability gaps arising from strategic shifts
- Diagnose organisational dynamics and provide evidence-based insights to resolve performance challenges
- Advise leadership on change management and organisational transformation strategies
- Ensure alignment of organisational design initiatives with MTN Group frameworks while enabling local business effectiveness
Internal Communication Enablement
- Partner with Corporate Communications to execute enterprise internal communication strategies
- Drive clear, consistent, and outcome-focused communication of strategy and transformation initiatives
- Align leadership messaging, culture narratives, and engagement initiatives with performance outcomes
- Strengthen transparency, trust, and organisational alignment through effective communication
- Integrate employee engagement insights into organisational effectiveness interventions
Customer Excellence & Stakeholder Engagement
- Champion cultural transformation initiatives that enhance performance and customer-centricity
- Deliver HR and organisational solutions that improve customer experience and loyalty
- Partner with Executive Committee members to optimise processes and drive business performance
- Improve employee Net Promoter Score through targeted organisational interventions
- Build strong governance relationships with executive leadership and divisional heads
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration to deliver integrated organisational solutions
Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
- First Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA/EMBA or equivalent) is required
- Professional certification (e.g., SHRM or equivalent) is an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Human Resource Management
- At least 8 years in senior management roles within a relevant industry or multinational environment
- Proven experience in organisational effectiveness, performance management, or transformation leadership
- Experience working in global or multicultural environments is highly desirable
- Exposure to workforce analytics, organisational design, and productivity measurement
- Experience managing large-scale organisational change initiatives
- Experience in developing organisational effectiveness metrics and performance frameworks
