Position Overview

MTN Ghana seeks a strategic and results-oriented Senior Manager, People Rewards to lead the design, implementation, and governance of the organization’s total rewards strategy.

The successful candidate will drive competitive, equitable, and performance-driven reward frameworks that attract, retain, and motivate top talent while ensuring alignment with MTN Group standards and local business needs.


Key Responsibilities

Reward Strategy & Framework Design

  • Develop and implement MTN Ghana’s total rewards strategy aligned with business objectives and people priorities
  • Design and maintain compensation structures, salary frameworks, and grading systems that ensure fairness and market competitiveness
  • Review and enhance reward policies to support performance, retention, and employee motivation
  • Align reward frameworks with MTN Group reward principles and local market realities
  • Support organisational design and restructuring through job evaluation and grading assessments
  • Provide strategic reward advisory to senior leadership

Compensation Management

  • Oversee annual salary reviews, merit increases, promotions, and market adjustments
  • Conduct regular compensation benchmarking to ensure external competitiveness
  • Manage job evaluation and grading systems to ensure internal equity and transparency
  • Advise HR Business Partners and line managers on compensation decisions
  • Develop recommendations for pay structures, salary adjustments, and reward policies
  • Ensure strong governance and approval controls for compensation decisions
  • Drive consistent application of compensation policies across the organisation

Incentives and Variable Pay Management

  • Design and manage short-term and long-term incentive programmes
  • Align incentive structures with organisational performance objectives
  • Monitor effectiveness, fairness, and cost impact of incentive schemes
  • Advise leadership on performance-linked reward mechanisms

Benefits Strategy & Management

  • Lead the design and continuous improvement of employee benefits programmes
  • Manage pensions, medical insurance, risk benefits, and other employee offerings
  • Analyse benefits utilisation trends and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Ensure competitiveness, sustainability, and workforce alignment of benefits
  • Partner with external providers to deliver efficient benefits solutions

Payroll Governance & Reward Operations

  • Provide governance oversight of payroll processes in collaboration with HR Operations and Finance
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PAYE, pensions, and statutory deductions
  • Monitor payroll accuracy, controls, and audit readiness
  • Resolve complex payroll and reward-related escalations
  • Strengthen reward operations for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance

Reward Analytics & Insights

  • Develop dashboards and analytics to support reward decision-making
  • Track key metrics including pay equity, reward cost, and benefits utilisation
  • Use workforce analytics to evaluate reward programme effectiveness and ROI
  • Provide regular insights and reports to executive leadership
  • Identify trends and recommend data-driven reward interventions
  • Lead reward-related initiatives such as salary reviews and incentive rollouts

Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure reward practices comply with labour laws, tax regulations, and internal governance frameworks
  • Maintain robust policies and controls for compensation and benefits administration
  • Support internal and external audits of reward processes
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement timely updates
  • Promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in reward management

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory

  • Partner with HR Business Partners to advise business leaders on reward matters
  • Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, workforce cost planning, and reporting
  • Align local reward practices with MTN Group Reward standards
  • Provide expert advisory support to executives and line managers
  • Support change initiatives affecting compensation and reward structures

Vendor & Service Provider Management

  • Manage relationships with external reward and benefits providers
  • Oversee vendor selection, contracting, and performance management
  • Monitor service delivery and ensure value for money
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and data protection requirements

Reward Communication & Employee Education

  • Develop clear communication strategies to enhance employee understanding of reward offerings
  • Educate employees and managers on compensation structures and benefits programmes
  • Ensure transparent and consistent communication of reward policies
  • Support HR Business Partners in delivering reward-related messaging

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SPHR, CIPD) is an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years progressive HR experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in compensation, benefits, or reward leadership roles
  • Proven experience managing salary reviews, job evaluation, and reward frameworks
  • Exposure to HR analytics, benchmarking, and reward modelling
  • Experience in large or multinational organisations is preferred
  • Strong understanding of labour laws, HR best practices, and regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
