Role Overview

Masco Foods is seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Head of Operations to lead the launch and expansion of the Mugg & Bean franchise in Ghana. This role requires a strategic leader who can build operations from the ground up, ensure brand excellence, and drive sustainable growth across multiple locations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Launch and Development

  • Lead the end-to-end launch of Mugg & Bean in Ghana, from pre-opening through to stable operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with brand standards, operating procedures, and customer experience requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with brand principals to maintain alignment throughout launch and expansion phases.
  • Develop and execute a phased growth and regional expansion strategy, subject to board and brand approval.

2. Operational Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing management team across operations, finance, supply chain, and support functions.
  • Establish effective operating rhythms, reporting structures, and performance management systems.
  • Provide strategic input into site selection, store development, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance standards.

3. Financial and Commercial Accountability

  • Own full P&L performance, including revenue growth, cost control, margin optimization, and EBITDA delivery.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions to drive business performance.
  • Lead supplier strategy and cost negotiations in alignment with brand requirements.

4. Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between Masco Foods, brand principals, licensor, and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including leadership, finance, HR, procurement, and development teams.
  • Represent the business at executive and board levels.

5. Travel and Regional Oversight

  • Travel extensively within Ghana and across neighboring markets to support expansion and operational oversight.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • MBA or Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Mandatory Experience & Background

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience, with proven senior leadership within the Mugg & Bean environment.
  • Experience must be gained through authorized, non-conflicted channels, with no breach of contractual or ethical obligations.
  • Strong understanding of the brand’s operating model, culture, and customer value proposition.
  • Proven experience launching or scaling a casual dining or premium café brand.

Leadership & Capability

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commercial mindset with advanced financial acumen.
  • High levels of integrity, accountability, and commitment to brand excellence.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Proven P&L management experience at country or regional level.
  • Strong operational, analytical, and financial management capabilities.
  • Experience in emerging or high-growth markets is an advantage.

Personal Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution focus.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, pre-launch environments.
  • Hands-on during setup phases with the ability to transition into strategic leadership.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
