Role Overview
International Community School Ghana is seeking a dedicated and experienced History Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction at A-Level. The successful candidate will inspire critical thinking, foster academic excellence, and support students in achieving outstanding results in History.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the A-Level History syllabus.
- Develop clear learning objectives and apply differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor and support student progress.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to enhance academic growth.
- Prepare students effectively for A-Level examinations through targeted revision and structured practice.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Implement school policies on behavior, attendance, and academic integrity consistently.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and concerns.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, parent forums, and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and strengthen curriculum delivery.
- Identify and support students who require additional academic assistance.
- Encourage critical thinking and the application of historical concepts to real-world contexts.
- Stay updated on developments in History education and examination board requirements.
- Engage in continuous professional development to refine teaching practice.
- Represent the school’s values and academic standards in all professional interactions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in History or related field (minimum requirement).
- Master’s degree in History or related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience at A-Level with a strong track record of student success.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in teaching History at secondary or post-secondary level.
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms is an advantage.
