Role Purpose

The IGCSE Geography Teacher will deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction that develops students’ understanding of physical and human geography, global systems, and environmental issues. The successful candidate will foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and global awareness while supporting students’ academic achievement and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Geography lessons in line with the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
• Develop engaging classroom activities that enhance students’ understanding of geographical concepts, data interpretation, and real-world applications.
• Assess, monitor, and evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and Cambridge IGCSE examinations.
• Create an inclusive and well-managed classroom environment that promotes active learning and student participation.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Maintain accurate academic records, assessments, and progress reports.
• Integrate relevant teaching resources, fieldwork activities, and educational technology to enrich learning experiences.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and cross-disciplinary teaching initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance and development.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, school events, co-curricular programmes, and professional development activities.
• Uphold the Christian values, ethos, and mission of GIU International Christian Academy in all aspects of teaching and conduct.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography or a related Social Science field.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in Geography or related subjects.
• Experience teaching IGCSE Geography will be an advantage.
• Ability to teach additional social science subjects such as Economics and Global Perspectives will be a strong advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Geography and Social Science subject content.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum will be an advantage.
• Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
• Ability to inspire curiosity and critical thinking in students.
• Strong organisational, planning, and assessment skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology tools.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and academic excellence.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
• Strong alignment with Christian values and the ethos of the Academy.
