Position Summary
The Internal Control and Stock Audit Intern will support the Internal Control team in monitoring inventory accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring compliance with established inventory management procedures. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to build practical experience in auditing, stock management, and operational risk within a dynamic pharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct Stock Audits
- Perform scheduled and unannounced stock audits at retail branches and wholesale warehouses.
- Verify physical inventory against Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system records.
- Conduct cycle counts and routine stock verification exercises.
- Participate in company-wide stock-taking activities to ensure inventory accuracy.
Investigate Stock Variances
- Support investigations into inventory discrepancies and identify their root causes.
- Examine stock variances arising from:
- Pilferage or theft.
- Incorrect stock counts.
- Data entry errors.
- Incomplete branch transfers.
- Goods not received in the ERP system.
- Warehouse dispatch discrepancies.
- Non-compliance with inventory management processes.
- Prepare accurate findings and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.
Support Warehouse Control Activities
- Verify goods receipt and dispatch processes to ensure compliance with established procedures.
- Observe stock receipt activities at the central warehouse.
- Review controls relating to expired, damaged, and obsolete inventory.
- Verify inventory movement documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Support efforts to ensure warehouse facilities remain organised, secure, and well maintained.
Monitor ERP Compliance
- Review compliance with inventory management procedures within the ERP system, including:
- Stock receipts.
- Branch transfers.
- Goods issues.
- Inventory adjustments.
- Stock approval processes.
- Identify areas for improvement and support the implementation of effective internal controls.
Prepare Reports and Maintain Documentation
- Document audit observations and maintain accurate records of stock verification activities.
- Assist in preparing audit reports and recommendations for management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen inventory accuracy and operational controls.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of internal control principles and inventory management practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems will be an added advantage.
