Job Summary

The International Consultant will provide expert support in WFP’s operations in Ghana, focusing on supply chain, market intelligence, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will actively coordinate with WFP teams, partners, and vendors to ensure seamless operations, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and provide actionable insights on food commodity markets, freight, and related goods and services to support WFP operations.
  • Coordinate with UN agencies, large international organizations, and local vendors to strengthen operational effectiveness.
  • Support budgeting, pipeline management, and related processes in WFP corporate systems.
  • Implement supply chain improvement initiatives, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and compliance with WFP policies.
  • Supervise staff and guide teams in achieving operational objectives.
  • Liaise with WFP partners to ensure alignment of objectives, timely communication, and effective collaboration.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal, Accounting, or other relevant fields; or First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or specialized training.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in relevant fields.
  • Proven experience communicating and coordinating with UN agencies or large international organizations.
  • Experience in food commodity markets, freight markets, and supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with vendors and managing pipelines, budgets, and corporate systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and implementing process improvements.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of WFP partners and operational frameworks.
  • Expertise in supply chain improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication abilities.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (Level C).
  • Intermediate knowledge (Level B) of a second UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese.
