Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Investment Support Officer to join our multidisciplinary team in Accra. The successful candidate will support governments and partners in designing, implementing, and evaluating investment initiatives in food security, agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, and agro-processing.

The role requires strong analytical capability, field experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with governments, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to deliver impactful investment and policy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to support governments in identifying and preparing investment and financing initiatives in agriculture, food security, rural development, natural resource management, and agro-processing
  • Contribute to pre-appraisal, appraisal, implementation support, and final evaluation of investment operations
  • Support the development of agricultural and rural development studies, strategies, and sector investment policies and programmes
  • Assist in designing inclusive and sustainable food systems involving producers, private sector actors, civil society, and government institutions
  • Contribute to capacity development activities for government staff, non-state actors, and private sector partners
  • Prepare technical reports in line with FAO, government, and development partner requirements
  • Promote knowledge sharing, best practices, and policy dialogue at international and national levels
  • Collaborate with FAO technical units, decentralized offices, and programme teams to ensure alignment and synergy in investment and policy work
  • Support resource mobilization efforts aligned with the FAO Strategic Framework
  • Engage with development partners and international financial institutions to support investment planning and implementation

Educational Requirement

  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Agribusiness Management, Natural Resource Management, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Rural Infrastructure Engineering, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in agricultural or rural sector analysis, planning, design, supervision, or evaluation of investment operations
  • Proven experience in feasibility studies and implementation of agricultural and rural investment projects in developing countries or countries in transition
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on sector strategies, studies, and investment programmes
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with government officials, development partners, and stakeholders
  • Experience working with international development partners such as World Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the European Union is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of subregional context and institutional landscape will be an asset
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports in English
  • Working knowledge of French will be considered a strong advantage

  • Familiarity with international development frameworks and donor-funded programmes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with governments and development partners
  • Ability to write clear, structured, and high-quality technical reports in English
  • Knowledge of French is a strong asset, including technical writing ability
