Position Summary

SBP Africa is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Lathe Operators to join its operations team. The successful candidates will be responsible for operating and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision components, support maintenance activities, and contribute to the efficient operation of industrial and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor lathe machines to manufacture and repair components according to specifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Measure, inspect, and verify finished products to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine settings for assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Adhere to workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and production teams to meet operational targets.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and machine performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hands-on experience operating lathe machines in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment.
• Knowledge of machining processes, precision measurement tools, and engineering drawings.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Good problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• Relevant technical certification, vocational training, apprenticeship, or practical machining experience will be considered an added advantage.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and machine operating procedures.
