We are seeking an accomplished Major Works & Special Survey Lead to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of major offshore works and class-driven survey campaigns.
Position Summary
The Major Works & Special Survey Lead provides overall leadership for the planning and delivery of major works, non-routine maintenance, and Special Survey activities on FPSO and offshore assets. The role ensures that work scopes are safely executed, fully prepared, and aligned with operational constraints, regulatory requirements, and Tullow’s engineering and HSSE standards.
The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The Major Works & Special Survey Lead will:
Lead the planning and execution of major works and Special Survey campaigns on FPSO and offshore assets.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, engineering, HSSE, and contractors, to ensure integrated execution.
Review and challenge job plans and work packs for completeness, constructability, and execution readiness.
Assess execution plans with consideration for:
Task sequencing and logic
Materials and tooling requirements
Manpower, competency, and specialist service needs
SIMOPS and operational or production impacts
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including API, ABS, and ASME.
Interface with classification societies and regulatory bodies to support Special Survey requirements and approvals.
Utilize CMMS systems (preferably Maximo) to manage maintenance scopes and work execution.
Coordinate financial tracking and procurement activities using SAP.
Develop and maintain schedules using planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project, ensuring accurate data inputs and realistic execution timelines.
Identify execution risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to Tullow’s HSSE policies and offshore operating procedures.
Provide clear communication and regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in an Engineering discipline.
Project Management certification or equivalent professional qualification.
Technical Skills and Experience
Strong understanding of FPSO systems and comparable offshore oil and gas assets.
Broad familiarity with multi-discipline trade activities delivered by contractors.
Proven ability to assess job plans and work packs for execution readiness.
Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with Maximo preferred.
Working knowledge of SAP for financial management and procurement.
Experience with scheduling and planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project and understanding of required data inputs.
In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including API, ABS, and ASME.
Leadership and Core Competencies
