Position Summary

MTN Ghana is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Manager, Cloud Delivery to lead the end-to-end delivery, operations, and optimization of enterprise cloud and infrastructure platforms.

The successful candidate will manage public, private, and hybrid cloud environments while ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and operational excellence across all cloud services.

This role requires strong technical leadership, vendor management capability, and the ability to drive cloud transformation in a complex, regulated, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Delivery & Platform Operations

  • Own and manage end-to-end delivery and operations of enterprise IT infrastructure and cloud platforms.
  • Lead public, private, and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring stability and scalability.
  • Oversee cloud migration planning, including landing zones, workload transitions, and operational handover.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all cloud services.

Service Operations & Reliability

  • Oversee 24/7 cloud operations, incident management, and service restoration processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in service uptime, resilience, and end-user experience.
  • Manage capacity planning, scaling strategies, and lifecycle management of cloud platforms.
  • Lead patching, upgrades, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks, policies, and technical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks, etc.).
  • Lead risk assessments, audits, and remediation activities.
  • Ensure proper identity and access management, encryption, and security-by-design principles.

Financial & Vendor Management (FinOps)

  • Implement cloud cost governance and financial optimization practices.
  • Manage relationships with cloud service providers and managed service partners.
  • Oversee vendor performance against SLAs and contractual obligations.
  • Support commercial negotiations and cost optimization initiatives.

Automation & Platform Engineering

  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Promote CI/CD integration and automation across cloud environments.
  • Reduce manual interventions through orchestration and automation frameworks.
  • Enable self-service cloud capabilities for development and business teams.

Security, DR & Business Continuity

  • Implement and oversee cloud security controls including network security, encryption, and endpoint protection.
  • Lead disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP).
  • Conduct regular resilience testing, including failover and backup validation exercises.

Stakeholder & Strategic Leadership

  • Manage relationships with internal business units, technical teams, and external partners.
  • Present cloud strategy, risks, and investment proposals to senior leadership forums.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and MTN Group IT standards.
  • Close audit findings within agreed timelines and ensure compliance readiness.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive process optimization, standardization, and documentation discipline.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to improve delivery predictability and operational stability.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend modernization opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications are required/advantageous:
    • ITIL
    • COBIT5
    • PRINCE2 / PMP
    • AWS / Azure / GCP certifications
    • Security fundamentals certifications
  • Master’s degree (MBA, IT, or Engineering) is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure or cloud environments.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven experience in cloud delivery, infrastructure operations, and vendor management.
  • Experience in telecom or regulated enterprise environments is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
  • Virtualization: VMware, KVM, Hyper-V.
  • Containers: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation.
  • Configuration management: Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls, load balancers.
  • Security: IAM, encryption, compliance frameworks.
  • Monitoring & observability: Prometheus, Grafana, cloud-native tools.
